Notes & Observations
Background – Developed by Robert Whatmough of Greensborough, Australia (? – source), a wax model of a Beurré Sterckmans pear, made in 1875, still exists in Museums Victoria’s Whatmough Collection.
Unfortunately, after a poor start with very little growth, and having lost a branch in winter 2018/19, the tree’s roostock was found to be dead on inspection in winter 2020. It was removed and replaced by cherry ‘Morello’ (Pr4).
