Fruit Varieties I Have Known and Grown

A selection of apples on a wooden table

This page will eventually develop into an index of the fruit varieties / cultivars that I’m either growing myself, or have grown, or am familiar with at various locations to-date. I plan to add profile pages for each, with some of my own photos and links out to sources of more information. But it may take me some time to pull everything together.

In the meantime, the lists below give a quick indication of what I’m currently growing and working with on my allotment or at my place of work.

Swapping or Sending Scions

If you spot a variety below that you’re interested in, and would like to arrange a scion-swap, please do drop me a line and let me know what you have in mind. Please N.B. if a list is marked ‘No Access’ then there’s a good chance I won’t be able to source the scions, although I might be able to put you in touch with someone who can, if your need for them is urgent enough.

I’m particularly interested in rare, unusual and hard-to-find russet apples, and am always happy to pay postage if you don’t mind sending me scions at the appropriate season. Please note, I can and will only send or receive scion material within the U.K., nothing overseas.

Please N.B. all allotment grown trees may be exposed to various forms of disease, particularly apple canker and pear rust, due to the number or old, unmanaged trees elsewhere on the site.

On My Allotment – Apples as Cordons, Stepovers or Tall Spindles

Some of these trees are quite newly-planted and/or not yet growing strongly enough to produce good scion material, but feel free to ask and I’ll check.
