Grafting Workshop, National Trust Quarry Bank, March 1st 2025
A quick announcement: if you’re based in the Greater Manchester, Cheshire East or North-West Derbyshire area you might be interested to know that I will be running an apple tree grafting workshop on Saturday March 1st 2025, at my place of work: National Trust Quarry Bank, not far from Manchester Airport.
This is, if I do say so myself, a fantastic opportunity to learn an ancient, traditional, useful, and hugely satisfying manual skill which, once learned, can set you up for a lifelong interest in creating brand new apple and other fruit trees.
Over the course of the three hour (plus a half hour break for lunch) workshop, I’ll be explaining the principles and practices of grafting, and demonstrating four different bench-grafting techniques: splice graft, tongue graft, saddle graft and z-graft.
Participants will then have the opportunity to practice any or all of these techniques by grafting three new apple trees to take away with them at the end of the workshop.
So, that’s three hours of tuition by an experienced apple tree grafter, and three brand new, self-grafted apple trees, all for just £40 per person.
Further details, and the booking form – the course is limited to eight participants, so booking is essential – can be found on the Quarry Bank website.
I hope to see you there!
