In the course of my research into the history of apple varieties and orchard management methods, I often come across an interesting recipe (or ‘receipt’ as they used to be known) or just an intriguing method for making something tasty or thirst-quenching with apples, pears and other orchard fruit.
I’ve been putting a few of them out as Orchard Cookery posts, and now I’ve decided to set up an index page of Historical Orchard Recipes to make it a bit easier to find them, in case you fancy having a go at making any of them yourself.
If you do try any of the recipes, (successfully or otherwise) please do feel free to send me an email with a description of your methods and results – the more photos the better, I’d really love to see them – or just leave a comment on the relevant orchard recipe post.
And of course, I’m sure there are other bloggers and researchers who have been doing this sort of thing for years, and far more thoroughly than me, so if you know of any please do let me know, via the comments.
